This month marks my second year in the Executive Director position. With that said I can say it has been a good two years, I have met some really good people and colleagues in the industry. That is a big help in making you a better person and leader in this field.
All the ED’s that I have met have been nothing but supportive and will go the extra mile to help you get going down the right path, so everyone can be on the same page and make 811 as good as it is. It shows how great this organization is and will always be, as long as the new guys listen to what is being told to them on how we all can do our part. Thank you all.
As for WV811 we have made great strides in moving forward with training
and getting the word out in the field this year. We had a good turnout this year at the State Fair with assistance from Ohio811, Texas811and VA811(attendance over 178,000 visitors) in a ten-day stretch. A big shoutout to our sponsors for making this happen Thank you all.
As some of you may know we are in the middle of our Paradigm meetings and have been seeing a lot of people asking more and more questions about 811 and damage prevention which means they are hearing what we are doing in the field with training.
We will be having our 3rd Quarter meeting on Oct 17th in Wheeling WV to report our progress for the year-to-date report. Come out and see us.
Looking forward to meeting more of you as we work together to keep West Virginia safe. Until then, remember to call 811 before you dig and then “dig safe.”
Thanks,
Jerry Poage Executive Director West Virginia 811
