2021 has begun with the faint hope of things getting back to normal. Even though the impact of COVID-19 is still being felt in places, face-to-face meetings and other opportunities appear to be opening. The good news is that in spite of the obstacles we’ve faced, West Virginia 811 has not missed a beat and continues to provide you the dependable service that you’ve come to rely on.
We are reminded that April has been designated safe digging month across the nation. Please remember the importance of calling before you dig and help us protect our communities and vital underground infrastructure. Our goal of encouraging everyone to call 811 before they dig was strengthened with enforcement for West Virginia’s dig law now in place. While there is still much work to do, I’m confident you’ll agree with me that together we’ve made progress toward making West Virginia a safer place to live and work.
On a national level, we’re reminded that when the call to 811 is made, damages occur
less than one (1) percent of the time. A special thanks to all of you who continue to work tirelessly for the safety and protection of our communities and families. West Virginia 811 recognizes our responsibility to all of you. The owners/operators, the locators and the excavators depend on the accuracy and timeliness of data from us, and we understand the importance of that. Our commitment to you is that we will not be your problem! We are available to provide the information you need to be successful. Just give us a chance to do that by calling 811 or by clicking on the Portal tab at www.wv811.com.
Many thanks to the supporters of this magazine. Whether you are in the retail side of this industry or in the utility side trying to reach folks who can damage your facility; this is the publication to be in. It reaches the people you want to reach. If you haven’t made the decision to advertise with us yet, I hope you will reconsider and give us a call. You’ll be glad you did!
Remember, call 811 before you dig. Not just because it’s the law but because it is still the right thing to do!
